THE MEANING BEHIND THE WORK:

Growth seems to be often portrayed as something that requires force, effort, more striving, more pushing. But, during the creation of this piece I felt the more I allowed myself to simply "unfurl" the easier the growing became.

It feels to me like the  most profound transformations happen when we simply allow ourselves to have a little grace in the becoming period. In the Unfurling.

"The Unfurling" is a reflection on surrendering to our own natural rhythm. A reminder that not everything needs to be forced into existence. Like a flower opening to the morning sun, there are seasons in life where our only job is to soften, trust and allow ourselves to unfold.

Created as part of my latest collection exploring humanity, presence and the joy of real life, this piece speaks to the quiet courage required to become more fully ourselves. The flowers throughout this body of work symbolise humanity itself — a reminder of our capacity to grow, evolve and bloom in our own time.

Painted with expressive brushwork, layered colour and visible hand-made marks, the piece embraces the beauty of the hand. I wanted the work to feel alive, joyful and unmistakably human — carrying a sense of warmth and presence into the home it inhabits.

LIVING WITH THE WORK

At 183cm x 122cm, The Unfurling is designed to anchor a room.

Its calming palette of sage greens, muted olives and soft creams create a sense of ease and spaciousness whilst the royalty and presence of the purple balance the piece and give it a strong but calming energetic. The sweeping organic forms bring movement and softness to a space while maintaining a quiet elegance that reveals itself more deeply over time. Expressive and obvious mark making add a sense of authenticity that elevates the space and conveys a sense of pride in quality. A true statement piece. 

FRAMING & PRESENTATION

The frame is not an afterthought — it is an extension of the artwork itself.

Unable to find a commercial framing finish that I felt truly complemented the tones within this collection, I sourced a beautiful Japanese brown stain and hand-finished each Tasmanian Oak frame in my studio. The deep brown finish was carefully chosen to elevate the artwork while maintaining a sense of warmth and timelessness.

Each frame carries subtle variations from the hand-finishing process, adding another layer of individuality to an already one-of-a-kind piece.

Your artwork arrives ready to hang with professional hardware installed on the reverse.

Each piece is carefully wrapped and packaged in a custom double-walled shipping carton designed to provide maximum protection during transit. All artworks are fully insured and tracked for complete peace of mind.

QLD, NSW, ACT and VIC: Complimentary courier delivery.

WA, NT and TAS: Flat rate $200 AUD shipping surcharge applies at checkout.

East Coast deliveries are completed via specialist art courier where possible. For locations further afield, artworks are professionally packaged, insured and delivered via trusted carriers including DHL and TNT. Please allow approximately 2–4 weeks for handling and delivery.

International collectors are welcome. International shipping is carried out by carefully unframing the artwork and rolling into an archival shipping tube for the safest possible transit. No international shipping or de-framing fees will be added however it is the responsibility of the collector to re-frame in their chosen frame upon receiving the piece.
