"Can't Ignore Macaw-ling" Original 850mm x 650mm
The story:
"Can't Ignore Macaw-ling" A colloquial and playful name, fitting to the essence of the piece. I had been seeing this artwork in my thoughts, regularly... a sign almost. I knew I was being called to paint a woman with a parrot on her shoulder, a Macaw. I just didn't know why, yet. It was however quite different for me to paint something as literal and so I procrastinated, I felt a little apprehensive to be honest. Until one day my 6 year old son Otto came to the studio with me during his school holidays. He brought such a playful vibration to the studio that day, all seriousness melted away. So I painted the parrot, for it was "just a fun day" after all. I asked him what he thought when I finished the piece and he straight away knew. He said I love it mummy, Its the parrot with all the colours, the Macaw. His certainty made me curious to research the symbolism. A Macaw is said to symbolise "rising, flair and visibility" a sign that encourages you to be loud, bold and bright for YOU are a person who inspires others and they need to see you being yourself so that they can too.
