A piece created in my season of balancing motherhood and womanhood. A work that speaks to the duality of finally beginning to understanding the complexities of one's self whilst also navigating the privilege, responsibility and dedication of motherhood. I finished this piece and I felt a childlike playfulness, an innocence come through yet simultaneously I felt an essence of sophistication too. I had a flash back to a distinct artwork that stopped me in my tracks in Barcelona. I was walking through the cobblestone laneways of the old Spanish city, through a gallery window I saw an artwork that instantly glued my feet to the ground. I remember the feeling of awe, wonder and experiencing something new for the first time. I was also a mum, my kids were at home in Australia, safe and sound with their dad and I remember the relief I felt... experiencing something so wholesome something just for me. It was the moment I realised that I can exist both as an individual and as a mother, and thoroughly enjoy both. Balancing season.
