Awe is a piece dedicated to the natural world. It is an extension of my gratitude for being born into a time with such a plentiful environment, to be able to witness first hand the beauty of oceans and rainforests and bushland and mountains. The Australian bushfires of 2019 and early 2020 caused widespread devastation across our country however they also forced us to take a closer look at our collective environmental impact. Humankind is no doubt taking a heavy toll on the natural world and I wish nothing more in life than for my children and their children to be able to see the natural world as I was so privileged to. This piece is in gratitude to our environment. This piece was inspired by an underwater view of a living Giant Clam.
Hand painted, abstract original, acrylic on Indian hand-pressed Khadi Paper which is created from scraps of cotton from fashion factories and recycled into into an organically textured paper.
Float framed in Tasmanian Oak.
