Scales is about the balance of life as a woman. Over the course of the past year I have sat presently and listened to the women in my life. It seems the chorus is that we are all striving toward balancing our career, family and personal lives especially for those of us in motherhood. This piece is a reminder to strive for fluidity rather than a perfectly balanced set of scales. In my experience the only times i've felt truly content in the pursuit of “doing it all” has been the times that I’ve been accepting of the fact that it is okay to just go with the flow, to have days filled with personal and career accomplishment and others dedicated to simply relax into being a mother, partner and individual. Each as rewarding as the other. This piece is a reminder to myself that when acceptance comes first all else seems to fall into place.
